The pictures in the novel serve a big part in the entire plot of the story. There have been parts in the story where I have made a strong effort to ry picture what Oskar is describing and/or seeing at that particular moment in the story. For instance, when Oskar had said that there was a flock of birds that had appeared outiside of Mr. Black's window, I was wonderting and thinking about exactly what that looked and the following two pages which were pictures of these birds help me to truly understand what that looked like. Probably the best example of this is when Oskar looks through his scrapbook titled
Stuff that has happened to me. Without the following pictures which were about stuff that he really enjoyed or have truly effected him deeply, I wouldn't have understood Oskar nearly as much as I do now.
